I believe in film and art as a way to engage the youth.

I currently work with award-winning non-profit Educational Video Center as a teaching artist. Through EVC, I instruct documentary filmmaking workshops across all five boroughs of New York City for public school students from middle school through high school.

Throughout my life, I've been blessed to have received the guidance of a number of extremely gifted educators and leaders. These mentors have changed my life profoundly.

My mission as a teaching artist is to give back to the next generation of young people by using art to help them develop their creativity, sense of agency, communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, digital technology proficiency, English language proficiency, and to introduce them to the gift of the joy of making art.

I believe in creating classroom environments in which students feel empowered to use and find their voice, curious and excited to learn, and most of all, safe and happy to be there.

Since 2021, with EVC I have taught in schools including Pathways To Graduation Davidson, I.S. 49 Bertha Dreyfus Middle School, Midwood High School, Catherine and Count Basie Middle School 72, Curtis High School, Concord High School, I.S. 230 Middle School, High School for Youth & Community Development at Erasmus Hall, High School of Art & Design, and dozens more.

Prior to my time with EVC, I worked as a teaching assistant for a number of undergraduate film production courses at Boston University, as well as as a teaching artist and teaching assistant variety of summer camps.

At Boston University, I studied film production and film theory under accclaimed industry veterans such as Sundance-winning director Jan Egleson and leading film critics such as world-renowned author Dr. Ray Carney, author of Cassavetes on Cassavetes. As a teacher, I bring both the technical and theoretical skillset required to educate my students in the field of filmmaking & film studies.
